Narrative:
I’ve worked in the substance abuse field for about 9 years. I started in 1997 at Valeo (then SARP) as a Detox Technician. I went on to earn both an Associate and Bachelor’s degree from Washburn University, with an emphasis in addiction counseling. I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to work with a wide range of individuals of all ages and circumstances during the course of my career. I am able to offer experience in working with adolescents and adults dealing with the pain of substance abuse.
I was fortunate enough to be asked to assist in drafting and shaping policies for ethical guidelines for Kansas counselors. I originally worked on this project as an intern with AAPS in 2004, and was delighted to have the opportunity to see the project through the next phase. It is an honor to be included in the shaping of ethical standards for addictions professionals in Kansas.
On a personal note, I am married, with three children. I’ve lived in Kansas all of my life, and grew up in El Dorado, a small town near Wichita.
